Raúl was named “Winemaker of the Year” by German publication Der Feinschmecker in 2014 and “Best Winemaker in the World” for 2015 by the French publication Bettane+Desseauve. In the February 2018 Decanter, Master of Wine Pedro Ballesteros wrote, “Raúl Pérez is the archetype of the intuitive winemaking genius.” A picture of Raúl in that same article is captioned, “Is this the best winemaker in the world?” Raúl would certainly not self-apply any of these superlatives. In fact, his genius is far exceeded by his humility and generosity of spirit. That humility comes through in his wines. These are not “winemaker” wines so much as they are unadulterated expressions of the villages and vineyards from which they hail. WA92

Tasting Notes: 2017 La Vizcaina La Poulsa is gentler, more ripe and generous. Soft on the palate, ripe and tender. This is a very approachable wine with moderate acidity.

Food Recommendation: hotpot, stew, game.
Maison MC Thiriet is a micro-négoce based out of Chateau de Comblanchien, in the Côte-d'Or. One of Cote d'Or’s newest up-and-coming micro-négoces and is based out of Château de Comblanchien. After years of experience in both the production and sales side, Canadian-born winemaker Matt Chittick and Burgundian Camille Thiriet, have thrown caution and better judgement to the wind in order to realize a long term dream of producing Burgundy under their own label. Camille and Matt met while working for Nicolas Potel at the Domaine de Bellene. Matt was the winemaker from 2011 to 2014 and Camille was the head of sales. Maison Roche de Bellene produces wine from over 75 different appellations so the experience gave Matt and Camille access to a great deal of reputable growers across the Cote D’or. This insight and network of relationships allows them to source only the best fruit for their own label from great growers who they know and admire. The duo is crafting some of Burgundy’s most exciting and thought-provoking wines at highly accessible prices. 2018 is the inaugural vintage of ‘Les Grands Champs’ for MC Thiriet.

Tasting Notes: The wine is lively and energetic, marked by dark fruit flavors, well-integrated tannins, and bright acidity.

This Pinot Noir from Ballorin comes from the "Les Echezeaux" vineyard, located in the municipality of Marsannay-la-Côte. The vines are about 40 years old and rest on a clay-limestone soil, with the presence of small shells. The harvest is manual and the fermentation of the Marsannay "Les Echezots" from Domaine Ballorin et Fils is spontaneous in cement and fiberglass vats. Aging on the fine lees in pièces for 12 months. Minimal addition of sulfur.

Tasting Notes: At sight, the wine is bright ruby red. The nose expresses elegant sensations of wild berries and purple flowers, with a beautiful iodized trace and a great spicy appeal. In the mouth, it is dry, full-bodied and balanced: it spreads out on fruity notes, ending harmonious and fine.

Food Recommendation: grilled seafood and poultry
Tasting Notes: Delicious wine. Deep purple, and viscous. Nose full of blackberry, cassis, and some hint of sourdough and nuts. A punchy intensity, full body, some tannins, and lots of underlying alcohol heat. Flavours of ripe cassis and black cherry, and somewhat straw-like, as well as a slight peat at the back. Fairly long.

Food Recommendation: Grilled meats, great with earthy flavors.
Asinoi’s label is inspired on Bruna’s passion and researches about donkeys. The culture of protecting donkeys, animals that follow us since the birth of our species, is one of the uncountable goals of the national association “l’Asino” that coordinates donkey growers throughout the country, as well as its use for humanitarian and didactic purposes (please search about the program “Asinine”). The Donkey is a simple animal in its complexity: it never does what it does not understand; it is faithful, respectful, goliardic, playful, but most of all, it loves to be in company. Our Barbera d’Asti Asinoi has its name because it suits perfectly well with a snack in company of great friends. Asinoi is made with soft pressing, controlled fermentation and average maceration, wine is pumped over circa 3 times a day, wine becomes steady naturally during ageing. Short ageing in concrete tanks. Longevity: 4 to 5 years.
Tasting Notes: Ruby red with shades of purple, intense and complex fragrance of cooked fruit with evident scents of cranberry, cherry and prune. It has energic tasting impact, while flavor develops with elegance and continuity.

Food Recommendation: pairs with spiced food, appetizers or lighter mains like grilled fish or seafood.

The Franc de pied cuvée is the most recent of Thierry Germain's wines, with the first vintage produced in 2008. It is produced from very young vines (which are franc de pied, i.e. not grafted onto American rootstocks), planted in clay-limestone soil, at a density of 10,000 vines per hectare, and with bunches of grapes vinified whole. The goal? To accentuate that Cabernet refinement even more. With only a thousand bottles produced across 0.18 hectares, this is something of a rarity!

Tasting Notes: This wine offers aromas of red fruits and floral notes, while the palate is direct, clean, full and deep.

Food Recommendation: red meat
