About Claus Preisinger

Claus Preisinger is one of Austria’s most respected natural winemakers, based in Gols in the Burgenland region near Lake Neusiedl. Working with biodynamically farmed vineyards, Preisinger focuses on minimal-intervention winemaking—native yeasts, gentle extraction, and aging in neutral vessels—to highlight purity, freshness, and terroir expression.

“Kalkundkiesel” translates to “limestone and gravel,” reflecting the mineral-rich soils that shape this wine’s vibrant character.

Tasting Notes:

Bright and energetic with aromas of sour cherry, raspberry, white pepper, and wild herbs. The palate is juicy and fresh with silky tannins, lively acidity, and a distinct mineral edge. Light on its feet yet layered, making it dangerously drinkable.

Food Recommendation:

Roast duck, char siu pork, grilled mushrooms, fermented dishes, or spicy Asian cuisine.
