2018 Hervé Villemade, VDF 'Sauvignon'
ORIGIN: Loire, France
GRAPE: Sauvignon Blanc
Special note: Natural, Organic
Hervé Villemade's 2018 Sauvignon Blanc hits the spot with classic Loire Valley aromas of exotic tropical fruit and invigorating flavors of lemongrass, ripe pear, and nectarine.
The palate is supple and quite ripe in 2018 but remains balanced with a flinty, mineral quality that adds a refreshing tang and texture to this versatile wine. The wine was matured in steel tanks and fibreglass tanks for an extended period before being bottled. Between 25 and 50 hl/ha yield. Sandy soils on flint clays. Négoce wine exclusively issued from grapes purchasing of 3 winemakers from the Cher Valley, on the villages of Noyer s/Cher and Thésée la Romaine. It is classified as a Vin de France because the Cheverny appellation requires that white wines are blends of Sauvignon Blanc and either Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc or Menu Pineau, hence this one does not meet the appellation rules. An all rounder crowd pleaser that keeps you sipping.
