2019 Montevertine Pian Del Ciampolo

2019 Montevertine Pian Del Ciampolo
A very special label to celebrate the founder Sergio Manetti. Aged in Slavonian oak, it’s the third of the Montevertine wines, an entry level if you like, to an estate whose wines are much sought after. They have a relaxed purity that makes them simply good company.Medium ruby. Nice cherries and mineral nose with light hints of tobacco. Quietly tangy cherry flavors, smooth and on the soft side, but very cohesive and smooth, a silky wine, goes down easily. Tasting Notes: Dry, medium bodied. Beautiful ruby color, the wine is intense and complex with crushed raspberries, cherry, pomegranate, cranberry, bergamot, dried herbs, dusty earth, wet stone on the nose. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin, medium+ acid and confirmed the tart red fruits, dried herbs, orange citrus, and earth. Long satisfying finish that is somewhat savory. Food Recommendation: Pork Pasta, Beef Short rib

About Azienda Agricola Montevertine

MONTEVERTINE IS NESTLED IN THE HEART OF THE CHIANTI HILLS, IN THE TOWN OF RADDA IN CHIANTI, AT 425 METERS ABOVE SEA LEVEL.

Grape varieties native to the Chianti area: Sangiovese, Canaiolo and Colorino are grown. At Montevertine, simplicity, respect, extreme care about details and know-how are the guiding principles that inspire our daily work. Our winemaking method is extremely traditional and always the same, since our very first harvests. The hand-picked grapes are fermented in vitrified concrete vats, without temperature control and by performing two pumping-over operations per day to keep the cap of skins moist for a gentler extraction of tannins from the skins.

After racking, the malolactic fermentation is begun in vitrified concrete vats. As soon as the fermentation is completed, the wines are left to rest in wood barrels for about two years. Wine ageing is performed in 5,5 to 18-hectoliter Slavonian and Allier oak barrels and in 225-liter Allier barriques. Our wines are never filtered and they are all bottled by gravity.
