Beychac and Caillau. Seven kilometers from Libourne. There is the domain of Galouchey, our domain that, on the other side, Saint-Emilion and Pomerol look, if not high, at least amused. We, Gerard Pantanacce, Marco Pelletier, Jean and Claudia Terrade, we are launched in this story (a little?) Crazy: make the wine we dreamed of, on a virgin land that had never known either the grape or the fertilizer until 2002 when the vines were planted. The domain of Galouchey is certainly entitled to the Bordeaux appellation; we will voluntarily decommission it into table wine. We named it Garden Wine, a name that suits him. There has been the fashion of garage wines; in mechanics, we prefer the bucolic: Garden wine.
On our small hectare, five grape varieties are planted: mostly Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Carmenere. We vinify in the Burgundy, which in the heart of Bordeaux does not leave indifferent. Aging in barrels of second wines that our friends from the great castles provide us with. For our Garden Wine, acidity, freshness, purity. Gourmandise, pleasures of a hand-stitched wine.
Spice, green and easy drinking. Mouthfilling, with a slightly roasted edge to the plum and currant fruit, giving way to mature-edged tobacco and singed cedar notes on the finish. Tar and warm stone hints help this stretch out further. A fun, character-filled wine. Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, with small amounts of Carmenère, Petit Verdot, Malbec, Sauvignon Gris, Sémillion, Muscadelle and Sauvignon Blanc.
